“Take an interest in the future, because whether you like it or not, you have to live in it”. It might seem like a motivational quote for our current Generation Z, but in fact it is taken from an address by guest of honour, Mr RP Rees, at the WBHS Matric Speech Day address in 1976. And WBHS Headboy in that year, Dave Keal, was listening.
Founder and Managing Director of Keal Property Group, Dave is taking an interest in the future of WBHS current pupil, Tiaan Kriek. “It is my pleasure to sponsor Tiaan who is a very talented, respected young man at Westville Boys, my Alma Mater. The Sponsorship initiative offers old boys an excellent opportunity to give back to the School by assisting worthy, deserving pupils in a meaningful way”.
“Tiaan is well respected by his peers and teachers for his humble nature, his determination and self motivation. He is a perfect gentleman who is passionate about his school,” said WBHS Foundation Manager, Pam Hayward. Despite only being in Grade 10, Tiaan is a multi-talented sportsman. He currently plays U16A Cricket and Rugby, is a KZN athlete, plays Sevens Rugby and 3rd team golf. Dave himself was an all-rounder at WBHS, receiving half colours for his 1st XV representation, 3rd team cricket, Athletics, and was involved in his house squash, tennis and swimming teams. “Tiaan has a vision of becoming an International Rugby Player and with the attitude and talent that he is blessed with, we are certainly backing his dream”.
